Housing; what we know so far : Target - 5 to 7 Houses a year Need is for - Affordable Homes -Starter Homes -Down sizer homes -Retirement homes

Housing; what we know so far : Green Belt; we will stay protected AONB/AGLV provides added protection but Village Settlement Boundary may need to change

Local Chiddingfold Development Policies can be developed to influence - The kind of development we allow - Who it is for and for what purpose - Where development takes place - What style it is in and what emphasis is placed on particular environmental factors

Chiddingfold Development Policies What to develop Our Chiddingfold Local Housing demand survey shows people currently in the village need over the next few years - 25 more Affordable rented homes with 1 or 2 bedrooms Starter Homes Low density 2 & 3 bedroom homes for down sizers or retirees - some sheltered accommodation for the elderly - more homes, (either bungalows or flats) with accommodation on one floor - We need policies to encourage development of the above, but restrict -Development of more 4 or 5 bedroom homes (55% of Chiddingfold homes are already in this category)

Chiddingfold Development Policies Where and for whom Should we Mix and match or separate the different types - Affordable homes and Market homes - Retirement homes and Market homes - Put homes for the elderly, near the shops or near the Surgery - Put affordable or starter homes near the school

Where can the new Homes be built ?

Chiddingfold Development Policies Evaluation of Sites : Choices Garden Grab or Go into adjacent Green Belt Develop brown field sites for Homes or Employment units or Office space Should key sites near the shops be for the elderly or For car parking or recreation Should Combe Common stay isolated or should we consider some development

Chiddingfold Development Policies Style & Environmental policies StyleModern, Contemporary or Retro Most favoured Retro tile-hung farmhouse/cottage style Then 21 st Century Modern Less favoured 20 th century or houses of unusual or unique design Environmental Policies Energy efficiency considered by residents as most important What else should we emphasise

Next Steps; Support needed February & March What kind of design fits best? What other evidence do we need? April & May Identify and evaluate potential sites
