Final major project

Review of progress and achievement: I have had the opportunity to try out so many different techniques in the first six units of this programme. For example, using a studio, studio lights, 3d photography, medium format photography, chemigrams, pinhole cameras and camera obscura are all things that I have never done before. I particularly want to do more film photography and also use the studios more in my work. I also think that the first part of the course has really taught me to experiment more and develop my work as I go along rather than decide on an idea and stick with it.

My project: I know that I want to do fashion photography for my final major project as I am going to be doing a BA in fashion photography next year. I am interested in the use of set design in fashion photography (for example Tim Walkers work) and this is something I want to incorporate into my final major project. I am going to make some mock sets on a much smaller scale and see what works and what doesn’t. I am probably going to shoot digitally and also like the idea of producing a fashion film alongside it.

Themes: Historical theme recreated in a contemporary way Fashion shoots inspired by classic films (could do a series of shoots) Shoots inspired by early fashion photography (Richard Avedon, Cecil Beaton etc)

Criteria: Solve complex practical and technical problems within a personal self directed art and design project Demonstrate the ability to efficiently plan, organize and produce a personal self directed art and design project within an agreed time frame Demonstrate the exploration, adaptation and application of a range of practical methods and skills in the realization of a personal self directed art and design project Maintain detailed critically evaluative and reflective records of the development of a personal self directed art and design project Explore a range of considered strategies to present a personal self directed art and design project
