Pathway:. Engineering Graphics & Design Course: Pathway: Engineering Graphics & Design Course: Survey of Engineering Graphics Unit 9: ENGR-SEG-9 Welding Design and Drawing

Elements of Working Drawings Welding Design and Drawing ENGR-SEG-1 Students will identify the elements of working drawings. a) Identify the different types of sectional views and their purposes b) Identify the different types of auxiliary views and their purposes c) Identify pictorials d) Identify various methods of tolerancing e) Read technical blueprints f) Read metric and imperial scales

Elements of Working Drawings Welding Design and Drawing Enduring Understandings: Creating and Editing Working Drawings Knowledge and understanding of how to create and edit section and auxiliary views Ability to identify and create a variety of pictorial views Capable of knowing basic reasons for and use of tolerances in part design and drawing notation Defining Welding Drawings Knowledge and understanding of how to construct basic welding drawings using industry standard symbols and annotations

Elements of Working Drawings Welding Design and Drawing Essential Questions: Why is it necessary to create section and auxiliary views? How are pictorial views defined and what is their purpose? What purposes do tolerances and various unit types play in the role of engineering drawings? Why is it essential to understand different types of welding and the notations used to describe them?

Elements of Working Drawings Welding Design and Drawing Knowledge from this Unit Students should be able to do the following: Explain the purpose of and demonstrate how to create section and auxiliary views Show how to create a variety of pictorial views Describe why tolerances are used to convey design intent and create toleranced dimensions using a variety of unit types Create weldments including notations on drawings

Elements of Working Drawings Welding Design and Drawing Skills from this Unit Students will be able to perform the following: Define section, auxiliary and pictorial views Create 3D geometry to provide 2D drawings utilizing tolerancing information using either English or metric units Make CAD models to represent welded components and define associated notations
