Objectives  Be able to identify barriers to effective reading.  Be able to explain how to the P-R-R reading strategy can be used to improve reading efficiency and comprehension.

Preliminaries  How do you feel about reading?  How long does it take you to read…  10 pages of a novel?  10 pages of a textbook?  What % do you remember reading…  10 pages from a novel?  10 pages from a textbook?

Focus Lesson: P-R-R  Read pp silently.  P-R-R Strategy  Preview  Read  Reflect

Closing: BONUS!  Divide up into 2 teams.  Line up in 2 columns facing the board.  The teacher will throw out a question covering today’s material.  The first person in each column who writes the correct answer on the board will be given bonus points.
