Mindomo: A Concept-Mapping Website Created by Russell Smith Technology Facilitator North Edgecombe High School

What is Mindomo? Mindomo is a concept- mapping website that allows the user to organize ideas and illustrate the relationships between each concept. The URL for Mindomo is:

Creating a new account in Mindomo There are three options for creating a new account in Mindomo, “Basic”, “Premium”, and “Team”. I suggest creating a basic account. (It is free, after all!)

Creating a new account in Mindomo, continued You will then be prompted to enter information such as your first name, last name, address, your username, your password, and finally, clicking to say that you agree with their terms and conditions.

Signing into Mindomo Once you have created your Mindomo account, you will be prompted to enter your username and password.

Once you are logged into Mindomo, you will be shown the “Mindomo Dashboard”. From here, you will be able to oversee any concept maps you create, as well as create a new map. There are two places that the maps that you create can be stored: (1)Private maps—only visible to you (2) Public maps—visible to all Mindomo users

To create a new concept map, click on the button on the top bar of the dashboard labled “New Map”.

You will then be prompted to enter a title for the map, as well as tags, a description of the map, the language it was created in, and whether to make the map public or not.

This is what your screen looks like once you create a new map. The next few frames will show the different features of the control bar along the top of the screen.

You can also adjust the position of the text box if you wish. The curvature of the connecting line will change.

To add a subtopic to a topic on your concept map, click the topic, and then select the “Subtopic” option on the “Insert” menu.
