WHAT IS A RESUME A resume is a brief document that summarizes your education, employment history and past experiences that are relevant to your qualifications for a particular job for which you are applying. The purpose of your resume is to get an interview.

GENERALLY Resumes use bullet lists rather than long sentences and paragraphs. A resume is designed to be skimmed quickly. In fact, the critique for this assignment is a 20 second skim done by your peers.

WHAT SHOULD IT LOOK LIKE? Font: Usually Arial or Times New Roman; Helvetica is a good font to use too. Paper: 8.5 x 11 paper, white, cream or grey

OBJECTIVE The objective should be short and concise. It must also be tailored around the position you are applying for. State the organizations name and how you can help the organization achieve its goals. *Don’t use the objective to selfishly state you want to further your own career. A good example: Expand my skills in programing in the software development field.

WORK HISTORY The work experience section can provide a detail of your previous employment information. This section can be called work experience, work history, employment history, employment experience, relevant experience or whatever else indicates the type of information that is included.
