Greening the Dingle Food Festival
What Happens? 3 day event which includes: The Famous Dingle Food Market; Workshops & Cookery Demo’s Taste Trail involving 50 locations Wine Tasting On street entertainment Corca Dhuibhne Glas Awards on Friday 30/09
A highlight of the festival include a taste trail in over 50 outlets, where festival goers can purchase taste tickets and sample local cuisine delights in locations that vary from pubs, and galleries to shop and restaurants.
Greening Element 1:Water All businesses visited in advance of the festival & presented with Save Water, Save Money Brochure & promotion of waste prevention initiatives.
Greening Element 2: Waste Corca Dhuibhne Glas – great case studies one facility reduced food waste to 117g per customer through participation in the project 3 way on street segregation Promotion of waste prevention amongst all participants – all premises promoting/displaying the Green Festival Goers Guide Gather baseline data to benchmark waste created 2011
Greening Element 3: Sustainable Purchasing Compostable Disposable crockery for Taste Trail Discussion & promotion of reduced food miles through sourcing local produce
