Presentation transcript:

The art of drawing solid objects (3D objects) on a two- dimensional surface (paper) to give the right impression of their height, width, depth, and length. A picture drawn in such a way, to make it look enlarged or to extend the actual space, or to give the effect of distance (make it look 3D).

1. HORIZON LINE! A horizontal line across a drawing that is usually at eye level. 2. VANISHING POINT! A point on the horizon line in perspective drawing that all receding parallel lines converge.

Is linear perspective Includes a horizon line Has ONE vanishing point All diagonal lines radiate from the vanishing point All horizontal and vertical lines intersect

Is linear perspective Represents a 3D object in space Includes a horizon line Has TWO vanishing points All horizontal and vertical lines intersect

Take out a pencil – no pens! Get out your sketchbook! Wait QUIETLY for directions

1. We will be drawing one point perspective together. 2. We will be drawing two point perspective together. 3. Your final project will be a two point perspective city scape. You will be using pen, ink, pencils and watercolor. You will need to graffiti a message on the buildings. You will be writing and researching about inner-city issues
