One Point Perspective By Carl Dellutri Anacortes High School

One Point Perspective Three Dimensions Width Height Depth

WIDTH Width is represented as a horizontal line going across the page

HEIGHT Height is represented as a vertical line going up and down on the page

DEPTH To create a line of depth, you must have a vanishing point.
The vanishing point is on your eye level

DEPTH A line of depth is an illusion that will always go toward a vanishing point.

As objects move into the distance, they will appear to get smaller.

This is because of our peripheral vision
This is because of our peripheral vision. We can see more area in the distance.

Therefore, the object will appear smaller in comparison with the area surrounding it.

When the surrounding is vast enough, the object becomes insignificant in comparison and will appear to vanish

By drawing lines of depth going toward a vanishing point…

drawing horizontal lines to represent lines of width,

and drawing vertical lines to represent height…..

We can create the illusion of a three dimensional object.

When two objects are parallel to each other, their lines of depth will have the same vanishing point

Objects following the same line of depth will use the same vanishing point

When an object is directly in front of you, and is directly below the vanishing point, you will not be able to see its sides,

By understanding lines of height, width and depth, you can create anything

When an objects is above the vanishing point, you will not see the top of it
