Blended/Compacted Model Purpose: To provide high achieving 8 th graders access to high school content courses, while providing layers of support and enrichment opportunities to enhance student learning. BLENDED Our 8 th grade partnering teachers will provide weekly enrichments with the goal of: Blending the 8 th grade and high school concepts to help students make connections Providing learning experiences using multiple modalities (labs, discussions, etc) Differentiating learning for students COMPACTED Our 8 th grade partnering teachers will be scheduled as the 8 th grade teacher of record (for their respective content area) for the entire year. They will use an alternate pacing guide to ensure that: Blended Semester: students are experiencing 8 th grade content as it aligns to the high school content delivered via NCVPS (see resources for labs, discussions, etc) Compacted Semester: students are experiencing all of the 8 th grade content that won’t be covered in the Blended semester
