Purpose  College and Career Consultants charged with doing a project within their region  Career Development Process  Seamless transitions  Personal Plans of Study  Program of Study  Pathways to Prosperity Schools

States Vision All students will graduate from high school prepared for the world of work and post-secondary opportunities that earn a living wage.  Personal plans of student in middle and high school  Aligned educational outcomes PreK-though post secondary  Industry sectors engaged

Issues  Working in Silos  Counselors  CTE  Grade Levels  Creating a Counseling Advisory Committee  Developing a POS  Implementing PPOS

Working in Silos  Realized the importance of communicating within each grade level  Realized the needed to understand the role of each grade level’s  GLEs  procedures  activities

How we did it!  Affton School District Counselors meet monthly.  After every survey, collaboration, Advisory meeting we would discuss using Continuous Improvement - PDSA

How we did it!  Where to begin  Survey counselors & schools  Looked at results  Set plans and goals

How we did it!  Using the Individual Student Planning Process Rubric  Counselors indicated level of performance for each building  Results showed we were “developing” in all areas.  We choose two performance areas to work on  Parental/Guardian Engagement and  Community Engagement

How we did it!  Now what?  Career Guidance Lessons  Career related field trips  5 th graders went to SLU  8 th graders went to Fontbonne  8 th graders (small group) – STLCC-Mermac  Primary students Vehicle Fair

How we did it!  During Career Week, at Affton High School, each grade level participated in a different activity  Freshmen field trip to South County Tech.  Viewed programs available to them as Juniors and Seniors.  Sophomores had a career fair at AHS.  Juniors participated in the statewide administration of the ACT

How we did it!  Use Missouri Connections  Checklists  Career exploration  Portfolio

How we did it!  Use Program of Study templates in developing PPOS  Procedures are in place for annual review of PPOS

 This is a process, it is ongoing.  It can speed up or slow down.  It may change entirely.
