The Friends of the Shenandoah River Laboratory is expanding with the addition of two parameters.

Message from the President We, here at the Friends of the Shenandoah River, are committed to doing our part to help the Chesapeake Bay program clean up the watershed. We are upgrading our water quality analysis capability by adding testing modules for Total Nitrogen and Total Phosphorous. This is an expensive leap of faith for us; but we recognize the importance of these parameters in following and measuring the Bay TMDL program.

We are going to try and recoup our cost through both grant proposals and fundraising, but we are excited about the possibilities of not just monitoring these levels in our own watershed, but in helping other organizations with their monitoring programs as well. At first, we are only going to monitor these levels at a few sites while we work through the inevitable new "wrinkles," but we hope to be able to offer this service to others in the near future.

If things really take off with this program, we may have to ask for your help as we'll have to purchase a whole new analysis machine, but for the present, we are really excited about this new direction. I'd like to thank each of you for the work you are doing as well "Keep up the good fight."
