Using the Word of God in your teaching

The place of the word of God Use to place the Bible on top of all other things. Use to say you had to be really careful with the Bible Use to say that you should not write or mark in the Bible

Treated the book with reverence Some of the same people didn’t study or read it Treat the words with reverence The Bible is the word of God

Bible Versions All verses are from the New American Standard Bible Need to use a good translation, NIV, NKJ or NASB-updated version

The Bible The word of God Everything God wants us to know Necessary for Godly living Without error in the original languages accomplishes what He wants Our only authority

The word of God Inspiration God breathed

II Peter 1: But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, 21. for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.

II Timothy 3: All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17. that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.

Everything God wants us to know Complete Nothing to add to it Nothing to take away from it

Galatians 1: I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel; 7. which is really not another; only there are some who are disturbing you, and want to distort the gospel of Christ. 8. But even though we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to that which we have preached to you, let him be accursed. 9. As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to that which you received, let him be accursed.

Matthew 5: "Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish, but to fulfill. 18. "For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass away from the Law, until all is accomplished.

I Corinthians 10:11 Now these things happened to them as an example, and they were written for our instruction, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.

Revelation 22: I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God shall add to him the plagues which are written in this book; 19. and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.

Necessary for Godly living Ephesians 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Colossians 3: Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

I Thessalonians 2:13 And for this reason we also constantly thank God that when you received from us the word of God's message, you accepted it not as the word of men, but for what it really is, the word of God, which also performs its work in you who believe. I Peter 2:2 like newborn babes, long for the pure milk of the word, that by it you may grow in respect to salvation,

Without error in the original languages Titus 1: in the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised long ages ago, 3. but at the proper time manifested, even His word, in the proclamation with which I was entrusted according to the commandment of God our Savior ;

God promises that the Bible will accomplish what He wants Isaiah 55:11 So shall My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. We do not have a promise that He will bless our words We need to use the Word of God in our teaching

Romans 10:17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Our only authority Test the spirits I John 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. Bereans Acts 17: Now these were more noble- minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily, to see whether these things were so. 12. Many of them therefore believed, along with a number of prominent Greek women and men.
