Standards are learning goals that tell us: What students need to know and demonstrate How well they need to know and demonstrate Example: Students must be able to create repeating and growing number patterns by the end of 2 nd grade. (Math: algebra concepts) Standards filter down from the national level and are set for each subject area and grade level (K-12).
