Kurt Krempetz (Director's Review - Dec. 7, 99) 1 Mechanical Infrastructure Kurt Krempetz Introduction Existing Systems New Systems Schedule Manpower Conclusions

Kurt Krempetz (Director's Review - Dec. 7, 99) 2 Introduction Definitions:  Mechanical/Cryo/Gas Infrastructure- Components/systems which are needed to operate the D0 detector and subdetectors. These are cooling systems, Heating, Ventilation, Air, Conditioning(HVAC) systems, and hoisting/drive systems.  Installation- Placing components in their proper positions and performing a minimal testing program. Minimal testing includes pressure testing, leak testing, and a checkout of the basic operation of the component.  Commissioning- First time operation of the system which includes obtaining safety approvals, pump and purging of systems, developing process operations, and debugging. This does not include operations.

Kurt Krempetz (Director's Review - Dec. 7, 99) 3 Existing Systems  Liquid Helium(LHe)System u Solenoid system; commissioned. u Visible Light Photon Counters(VLPC) system; commissioned to cryostats.

Kurt Krempetz (Director's Review - Dec. 7, 99) 23 Conclusions  Existing System are in need of some maintenance but basically in good condition.  New systems are not needed yet but will be very soon.  Manpower for the new systems has been under estimated.  Limited manpower has been available to work on new systems.  Manpower must be available to work on these new systems or the current schedule will not be met.
