Miyoko and Her ESOL Class Miyoko is an ESOL 2 student. She comes from Japan. Her husband’s name is Herogar. Miyoko likes dancing, swimming, and cooking Japanese food, but she is not keen on housecleaning. Miyoko and her family enjoy fresh air, beaches and space in Sydney.

Husband and Children They have two children. Kira is their son. He is 15. Miayomi is their daughter. She is 11. They live in a unit near Padstow. They have two children. Kira is their son. He is 15. Miayomi is their daughter. She is 11.

Townhouse They rent a townhouse in Granville at near TAFE. The house has four bedrooms, a sunroom, a garage and a lovely garden. It is close to shops, restaurants and a bus stop. The rent is very reasonable.

Miyoko’s Class Teacher Kelly Brown is Miyoko’s ESOL teacher. Kelly loves her job.

Kelly She lives in Marrickville. Every morning she gets up at 6am and goes for a walk. Then she takes a shower, has breakfast, gets changed, and catches the train to work.

Kelly’s Daily Routine Every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday Kelly teaches at TAFE. Classes are from 9:00am-2:30pm. On Wednesday and Friday Kelly goes to a fitness centre.

Kelly’s Weeklends On Saturday she cleans the house and she goes shopping. On Sunday she visits her parents. Kelly is always very busy.

Miyoko’s Classmates Miyoko’s classmates are from different parts of the world, including Iran, Iraq, Sudan, Afghanistan, Korea, Burma, China and Turkey.

Classmates In spite of the cultural, educational, and social differences, they get along well, and enjoy discussion, role play, group activities, computer, and grammar exercises.

Future Plans When Miyoko and her class complete ESOL Level 2, they plan to continue to study English in level 3. Hopefully, they could get into some main stream courses in TAFE in near future.
