Presentation transcript:

The Door of Mercy The Door of Mercy is a special Holy Door which Pope Francis has asked to be opened in every Diocese at the start of the Year of Mercy In our school we will have our own Door of Mercy which will remind us that God is always there and waiting for us and that God’s mercy should be in our hearts every day.

Earlier this year Pope Francis announced that we would have a Special Jubillee Year of Mercy, beginning on December 8 th, throughout this year we will think about how we can respond to this wonderful invitation to show mercy to everyone around us To guide us through this year we have been asked to look more closely at the Corporal Acts of Mercy and to respond to them in prayer and in action

The Door of Mercy To begin the Year of Mercy Pope Francis has asked for a Door of Mercy to be opened in every Diocese In our school we will have our own Door of Mercy which will remind us that God is always there and waiting for us and that God’s mercy should be in our hearts every day.

In our own Diocese Pope Francis is celebrating Mass at St Barnabas Cathedral on the 8 th December when the symbolic Door of Mercy will be opened, you can see parts of the preparation for Mass on the link below

Lord Jesus Christ, you have taught us to be merciful like the heavenly Father, and have told us that whoever sees you sees Him. Show us your face and we will be saved. You are the visible face of the invisible Father, let the Church be your visible face of forgiveness and mercy in the world. You willed that your ministers would feel compassion for those in ignorance and error: let everyone who approaches them feel loved, and forgiven by God, Amen YEAR OF MERCY PRAYER
