 Class begins with vocabulary study and grammar practice and then shifts to the learning objective of the day.  On Mondays, students will work in book clubs. Book clubs will be determined before the beginning of each unit. Students will choose from a list of books relevant to the focus topic being studied during each unit.  Our first unit of study will be exploring historical fiction and linguistic and literary connections exist that across time, texts, and cultures. During this unit, students will analyze their summer reading books: Moon Over Manifest and Navigating Early by Clare Vanderpool and explore how the two books are connected by common themes. Throughout this unit, students will also make connections between people, relationships, and events. What Do We In Class?

Book clubs will begin Monday, September 14. Students will be reading the other summer reading book. * Moon over Manifest by Claire Vanderpool *Navigating Early by Claire Vanderpool I encourage students to swap with a buddy in 7 th grade (Save $$ ) However, if you prefer to purchase the book, Amazon has both books. Book Club

 Parents and students can check grades online.  I will be updating my grades weekly.  If you see a zero in the gradebook, your son or daughter is missing an assignment. Once I receive an assignment before the late work policy, I will adjust it accordingly.  Late work policy (5 days; 7 th grade team policy)  Student ownership of learning and accountability  If you are overwhelmed or having trouble, please talk to me immediately. It is better to approach me for extra help than to wait until work is late or not to do it at all. Power School
