Quick & Easy Math Flipped Lessons Melissa Powers Handouts for this session can be found on the AMLE2015 app

Benefits of Using Your Own Flipped Lessons  Advanced learners can continue through curriculum at own pace  Struggling learners can review skills and strategies more than once  You control the vocabulary and can use time-proven strategies  Teach content when you are absent  My students prefer my videos over pre-made videos  Parents can watch videos with students

Materials Needed  Bamboo pad  I use a Wacom pad  Fairly inexpensive ($50-$90 on Amazon)  Recording Software  I use Ink2go  Also, fairly inexpensive ($20)  Google Drive/Classroom  I use both Drive & Classroom to share videos  I prefer Drive with view-only privileges (faster & cleaner)

Step 1  Decide on a Background/Teaching Tool  PowerPoint  Google slide  Worksheet  Blank white page I prefer to use Google slides because I can type some of my info and then solve problems as I go. This also helps keep my thoughts organized.

Step 2  Record your lesson using ink2go, or something similar, & the bamboo tablet.  Students prefer the in screen picture of the teacher.  Be sure to practice making transitions from slide to slide and changing from pen to pointer.  If you use ink2go, use screen selector to hide part of your screen.  Don’t take yourself seriously –The videos will never be perfect; plus kids like for you to mess up.

Step 3  Once recorded, you need to upload to a sharing platform.  I prefer Google drive. Videos download faster in my district if I share in Google drive.  Google Classroom is an option  Upload to your YouTube channel or your website.  If these options don’t work, use a flash drive to transfer from computer to computer.
