What is an array? An array shows objects in columns and rows. You can add the columns or rows in any order. Columns Rows

Have a student arrange 8 cubes into an array. Ask questions about the array. Ask: Can anyone arrange the 8 cubes into a different array?

Write a number sentence for this array.

Roll an Array Materials: bag of connecting cubes, grid paper, 2 number dice Rules: 1. Work with a partner. 2. Each student will roll their die. One student rolls for columns and the other students rolls for rows. 3. Work together to build an array with the cubes. Write a number sentence on the recording sheet. 4. Play until you hear the bell.
