expository An Process essay is by nature expository: that is, it conveys information: introduction that is provoking or surprising. paint a picture in words To draw the reader into the process, the writer must attract attention by an introduction that is provoking or surprising. You could use description or narration to paint a picture in words, or it could simply be the shocking nature of the facts or statistics you present.

You can also lure your reader by showing the importance of the process or procedure, give a historical perspective, or compare it with other similar processes.
