The Gladiators Gladiators would enter the arena/colosseum through large metal doors. Then the gladiators would move toward the center then start fighting. They would bring in tigers, lions or other animals to start fighting the gladiators to make the battle a bit more exciting. But the animals would be chained up so that they don’t go on a rampage. Then when the battle was over, they judges would bring the lions back into their cages and the battle would be over. In this picture are two gladiators fighting. They would use swords, spears, shields and even medal arm shields. Gladiators would normally where a cloth that only covered their waist as shown in the picture. By the way, did you know that the slaves that were sent out to battle animals and were expected to die.

Gladiators fighting the animals This statue that was carved into stone is of 5 gladiators fighting a lion, leopard and tiger it seems as if the animals are winning.

Roman Weapons In some battles the gladiators would use these weapons and helmets to battle each other until the death but would have cloths that usually covered their whole body. When gladiators use these weapons they normally where cloths that only covered there waist (shorts) and usually didn’t were a helmet.

Chariot Races The chariots were usually made up of pure medal with lots of detail in them. They also had 4 horses that pulled the chariots around a track with a mini island in the middle. The stadium would normally be in a rectangular possession with the track in the middle. Many of the Roman’s that were ridding the chariots had whips or spikes on their wheels to destroy other chariots. As shown here, these hooks at the end of the chariot would hold the rope that connects to the horses This is where the rider stood. A chariot only has two wheels so that it is easier to slow done and so that if the horses escaped, the chariot would sometimes go flying.

The People and Animals that died in the colosseum

The deadliest colosseum game The deadliest game that the Romans played in the colosseum was when the Romans let a large amount of animals loose to attack the slaves and gladiators in the stadium. The Romans let out, ox's, tigers, leopards, hedgehogs, and even dogs! Ahhhh! LOOK OUT! GRRR RRRR R! NOOOOOOOO! GET IT!

Roman Roundup Romans have created many things that we use nowadays and things we would never use. But all in all, if there were not any Romans then our life wouldn’t be as good as it is now. Romans Tickets Colosseum Racing Weapons Helmets Amphitheatre Chariots
