“Advocacy” within the Coalition? INSIDE. members are proactive within their own institutions OUTSIDE. members take action – doing work that they would normally be doing TOGETHER. individual members come together to work/take position on an issue Example: letter to the Secretary General in support of the Millennium Project’s “Quick Wins”

“Advocacy” is… a flexible and dynamic strategy, that supports and persuades and promotes positive change in society

“Advocacy” is not… a static theory an imposition an isolated action an opinion IEC (Information, Education and Communication)

Our Definition of “Advocacy” A strategy designed to change the actions of policies or programs of any type of institution. The aim of advocacy is to raise awareness and mobilize resources. No business as usual !

Supplies is a successful and tangible indicator and a hook for supporting sexual and reproductive health.

Necessary Ingredients for Success: 1.Strong Coalition plus Secretariat 2.Endorsement for completion, expansion and enhancement of the RHI. 3.Voice and Place at the table for Civil Society 4.Country level Advocacy and Capacity 5.Coordinated Research and Data 6.Innovative Funding Mechanisms
