14 The Good 7 million new jobs from 1973 to ,000 in Health Care / Social Assistance 550,000 in Professional & Technical Services The Bad Three sectors that pay higher percentage of earnings than employment percentage they represent were hit hard by recent economic downturn Construction Finance & Insurance State & Local Government

15 The Ugly Of the 7 million new jobs added since 1973: over 3.5 million, more than one half, are in the 8 sectors averaging gross earnings of some $10K less than the state average earnings per job none of the 8 sectors pays total earnings proportionate to the percentage of employment the sector represents local / state governments may be faced with providing additional services to workforce families with limited incomes, and little or no employer-provided benefits, for these growing employment sectors
