Careers Guidance and Inspiration in Schools Statutory Guidance 16. The statutory duty requires governing bodies to ensure that all registered pupils at the school are provided with independent careers guidance from year 8 (12-13 year olds) to year 13 (17-18 year olds). 17. The governing body must ensure that the independent careers guidance provided: Is presented in an impartial manner Includes information on the range of education or training options, including apprenticeships and other vocational pathways Is guidance that the person giving it considers will promote the best interests of the pupils to whom it is given. FE Colleges and sixth form colleges have a requirement to secure independent careers guidance.

I am good at maths, what can I do? Which industries are growing? What GCSE options should I take in year 9? What is the right career path for me? What are employers looking for? What are my options after year 11 and year 13?

To speak to a professional careers adviser, search ‘National Careers Service’ online. Advisers are available 8am to 10pm, 7 days a week.
