Development at the rural-urban fringe

The City Centre: CBD Swansea city A new style retail park based on a Superstore (Tesco) - Fforestfach Where is Fforestfach ?

Rural-urban fringe The rural zone surrounding the built up area into which urban functions, often decentralised from urban areas, are located such that the fringe takes on a mixture of rural and urban functions.

Parc Fforestfach, Swansea, UK Size: 22,075 m². Over 1300 free car parking spaces. Provides 14 new units ranging in size from 400 m² to 2,000 m² Fforestfach Retail Park, Swansea - completed (Aug 2002). How has Fforestfach changed? /3393/photographs.html

Parc Fforestfach The area to the southwest of Carmarthen Road/Pontarddulais Road, called Parc Fforestfach, developed in the early 2000s. It suffers from parking problems during peak hours. The Tesco Extra store at Parc Fforestfach is one of the largest supermarkets in Wales.

Some of the other retailers at the site include Marks & Spencer, Boots, Next, Clarks, Outfit, River Island, New Look, The Carphone Warehouse, Pizza Hut, Thomson Holidays, Birthdays, Thorntons inside the Birthdays store and Costa Coffee. ie=UTF8&cid= &q=Pontardulais+Retail+Park&iwloc=A &gl=GB&hl=en

In November 2006 a new Park and Ride scheme was introduced in Fforestfach to ferry shoppers into the heart of Swansea City centre.
