Spelling Sept. 22-Dec. 21
Helpful hints This Powerpoint is NOT meant to tell you everything. It is meant to give you helpful hints about what is important in your weekly spelling sort and to help you place your words in their correct categories. Some of the weekly lists (sorts) you will really need to work on and think about. Always ask in class if you have a question!
Abbreviations & Explanations OB = oddball – These are words that don’t fit the other categories, for one reason or another. Often they have different vowels, consonants, or they break a rule. Base = this means the root word – If you take away prefixes and suffixes, the root word is the base word. /k/ = if you see a letter in between slanted lines, that means “this letter SOUNDS like a k” even if it is NOT a K.
