District Support Staff Category Sort District Strategic Directions: Highest Student Achievement Responsive Governance Effective Use of Resources Strategic Goal: Douglas County will direct its resources to most effectively enhance student potential.

Department leaders in Douglas County School District base their decisions on reliable data and their plans on data received from stakeholders and customers

Department leadership role models fact-based decision making using data and setting measurable performance goals

All senior leaders in the Douglas County School District are personally committed to performance excellence through continuous quality improvement

In the Douglas County Schools Support Services departments, strategies to achieve key organizational results are defined and aligned with the District strategic plan

Each individual in the Risk Management division understands how his or her work contributes to achieving organizational goals and plans

The Payroll division is redesigning staff work relationships to be more aligned with other work groups in the Wilcox Building

Office staff, bus drivers, cafeteria staff and others are trained in listening to students and stakeholders

Defining and developing relationships with all key stakeholders is regularly evaluated and improved

Training and development plans and replacement procedures exist for first contact employees (office staff, bus drivers, and cafeteria workers)

The Budget Department in the Douglas County School District recently reviewed their processes for assigning classified staffing. In doing so, they used information from the current system and the neighboring school districts

In the Grounds Department, improvements to work processes are monitored and verified. A PDSA cycle is used regularly and results obtained are systematic and integrated throughout the department

Bob Scott, Director of Construction, and Ellen Boyd, Director of O&M are using the six step improvement process to analyze why there have been ongoing temperature problems in new schools

The Douglas County Support Services have encouraged a collaborative work culture whereby all employees share in the responsibility to support schools and students

The Douglas County Staff Development Department uses various methods to deliver specific training that is suitable for improving staff knowledge and skill levels

Trend data are regularly reported that address employee satisfaction with working conditions and safety

Data on absenteeism and staff turnover, indicate that process improvement strategies are resulting in reduced levels of those problems

Multiyear data are provided to staff in order to measure progress toward improved performance by the department 47840
