The Cancer Awareness Program spans the continental US and reaches from Hawaii to Puerto Rico to Saipan. States with CAP States without CAP

How do Mayors promote Cancer Awareness? They conduct public information campaigns and events. They support screening and treatment. They form local coalitions. They fundraise. They provide self-example.

What are the outcomes of the Cancer Awareness Program?

A force of close to 300 Mayors is conducting a national public health initiative that has increased cancer awareness and screening.

Millions of people have been reached by the Mayors’ public service announcements promoting breast and prostate cancer awareness and early detection.

Cancer-survivor Mayors are using their survivorship for advocacy, particularly for the underserved.

Cancer is a priority issue within the U.S. Conference of Mayors.
