Multiple Intelligences

Howard Gardner Birth date: 7/11/1943 Birthplace: Scranton, Pennsylvania Occupation: psychologist

Gardner is best known in educational circles for his theory of multiple intelligences; (it challenges the idea that there exists but a single human intelligence.) Last 25 years, he has been working on the following areas in education: design of performance-based assessments individualized instruction

In 1986, he began to teach at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and continued to work on Project Zero (A research group on the human mind that focuses on the arts.) He lectures publicly on such topics as education, intelligence, creativity, leadership, professional responsibility, disciplinary and interdisciplinary study, good work, good play, and the arts.

It refers to the variety of learning styles that every person has in varying degrees. In each individual, different intelligences predominate.

Intelligences: Interpersonal (people smart) Musical/ rhythmic (music smart) Bodily/Kinesthetic (body smart)

Continued… Visual/ spatial (picture/drawing smart) Logical/mathematical (number smart) Verbal/linguistic (word smart) Intrapersonal (self-smart)
