Presentation transcript:

{ A literary and artistic movement of dream-like expressionism. Combining prose, poetry, story, and art works, the authors and movers of this movement were specifically obsessed with capturing imagination and solving the mysteries that lie beneath the subconscious matters of the human mind.

Dalí was a skilled draftsman, best known for the striking and bizarre images in his surrealist work. His painterly skills are often attributed to the influence of Renaissance masters. Dalí's expansive artistic repertoire includes film, sculpture, and photography, in collaboration with a range of artists in a variety of media. Dali loved attention, and was often more known for his eccentric actions and loud mannerisms than his works.

Andre Breton is known best as the founder of Surrealism. His writings include the first Surrealist Manifesto (Manifeste du surréalisme) of 1924, in which he defined surrealism as "pure psychic automatism".

Man Ray was an American artist who lived most of his career in Paris, France. Unofficially belonging to both Dadaist and Surrrealist groups, Ray created pieces that are still being questioned today. Ray is also known for creating his own type of photograph, which he named after himself, "Rayographs."

Cubism and Expressionism is where Paul Klee drew most of his inspiration from. However, his highly individual style is reflected upon his Surrealist paintings. Being a naturally talented draftsman, Klee pursued his focus towards the unique styles that he practiced and are most known for. He is also known for teaching at the German Bauhaus school of art, design and architecture. His pieces reflect his playful humor and child-like imagination.
