The relationships between these concepts, and be able to compare and contrast one concept with another

The benefits of play, physical education, active leisure, outdoor and adventurous activities and sport to the individual and society

Definition of play: An activity that is undertaken purely for enjoyment or amusement and has no other objective.

PLAY Intrinsic value Play is undertaken for it’s own sake, there are no external rewards, it has no purpose. Play can be childlike, and allows an individual to be in a fantasy world. The number of participants, area played in and time played for are all not strictly structured. Fun Individuals play to enjoy themselves; non serious. Rules are changeable, negotiated and freely accepted. Spontaneous It requires little pre planning or organisation.
