What is Partnership? The suppression of mutual loathing in pursuit of funding

OFSTED The partnership is well led and individual partners and providers are empowered and encouraged to manage their own projects in the most effective way to suit local needs. Key provider staff clearly understand their roles and responsibilities within the partnership. Partnership working is outstanding. This is particularly good between sectors including the voluntary services sector and colleges. Partners value the opportunities to share best practice and discuss issues and concerns.

What Partners Value “Works in a very straightforward way” “Unique in its honest broker role, its independence cannot be replicated” “Has the ability to respond quickly” “Responsive to members wishes – very enabling”

1.Why work in Partnership? Benefits The whole is greater than the sum of 2 parts! Added value Shared resources Funders may require this

2. How well do you know your Partners? What did you ought to know & why! Understanding of their – Interests/agenda – Drivers – Values – Goals – Teams Need for – Partners selection – negotiations

3. Maintaining the Partnership Relationship to be worked at Participation level expected Trust & transparency Individual relationships Monitoring Communication

4. What are the risks? Contracting to take account of Grant vs on delivery Up-front costs & non-delivery Dependancy between strands of activity & impact on non-delivery
