Digital Literacy OCN Pilots - Identifying more opportunities for support Helen Brady

Initial OCN Phase Overview of our initial OCN pilot phase – Students Online presence (throughout) Online information seeking (induction) Traditional library skills (induction) – Staff OCN: Blending Traditional and Online Learning Techniques OCN Structuring a Virtual Learning Environment OCN: Promoting Active Learning Online

The Staff Journey OCN Structuring a Virtual Learning Environment Why did we write it? How was it delivered/what did we cover Course Link Course Link What did we learn from the pilot of this course? ( Gaps we hadn’t considered )

Why the gaps? Teacher Ed does not cover this content enough – contextual knowledge of blending techniques CPD based more on tools rather than pedagogy Moodle always seen and used as a repository and not active platform Not enough sharing within the college of active practices using online tools. ( Many didn’t realise what you could do )

The context of online learning with traditional teaching and learning knowledge Learning theory in learning design Planning for blending learning in SOW Using active learning methods rather than passive repository use What knowledge is needed before hand and what knowledge can be developed further Re-looking at and developing the CPD provision

Overall CPD Qualification Framework OCN: Blending Traditional and Online Learning Techniques OCN Structuring a Virtual Learning Environment OCN: Promoting Active Learning Online
