1. Supply Chain Management(SCM)  Definition:  Supply chain management encompasses the planning and management of all activities involved in sourcing and procurement, conversion, and all logistics management activities.

 It also includes coordination and collaboration with channel partners, which can be, intermediaries, third- party service providers, and customers. In essence, supply chain management integrates supply and demand management within and across companies.  Supply chain management it is an integrating function with proper responsibility for linking major business functions and business processes within and across companies into a cohesive in a high performing business model.

Emergence of the supply chain concept  (1) The information revolution;  (2) Customer demands in areas of product and service cost, quality, delivery, technology, and cycle time brought about by increased global competition;  (3) The emergence of new forms of inter- organizational relationships.

Firm’s internal functions  If a firm wants to achieve the highest level of integration it is SCM, the firm needs to integrate all of its activities, processes, functions within a company, we call it internal integration.
