Meet Mr Dancing Decimal

You know that a decimal point separates a whole number from a decimal fraction of a number. Whole Number Fraction of Number

Well, Mr Decimal does a whole lot more. For example, if you want to multiply by ten Mr Dancing Decimal simply dances one step to the right- your right that is… Look And since we can’t leave Mr Dancing Decimal cold and alone at the end of a number we put in a zero to look after him

You can multiply by a hundred by using dancing decimals Since 100 has two noughts Mr Dancing Decimal jumps twice. Like this… And don’t forget the bodyguard!

We haven’t stopped yet! We can use Mr DD to divide by 10… Instead of jumping to the right- he just jumps to the left… Like this And we don’t need the zero anymore
