Ethiopian Evaluation Association

Establishment of EEvA Ethiopian Evaluation Association is established in 2009 by the assistance of UNICEF and re registered in 2010. EEvA had collaboration and support from ChSA, UNICEF‐Ethiopia and Ethiopian Statistical Association. Currently we have more than 200 members

Vision and mission Vision of EEvA “See EEvA as a Centre of excellence in competency and standards of M&E” EEvA’s Mission EEvA’s mission is to engage and enable M&E professionals to contribute significant part in the socio-economic development of the country by way of: Knowledge generation, Awareness creation, Capacity building, Advocacy Guiding standards

Objectives 1. Create a forum for professional evaluation based multi-disciplinary discussions. 2. To promote useful evaluations that support development in Ethiopia and give professional support as the case demands. 3. To encourage the development and publication of high quality evaluation practice, research and theory development based on Ethiopian experiences and expertise thereby enhancing the building of evaluation capacity in Ethiopia.

Objectives 4. To promote evaluation as a profession and support national ownership. 5. To be a reference point for evaluation information and methodology relevant to Ethiopia. 6. To promote and share Ethiopian evaluation expertise at relevant regional and international forums and events. 7. To develop & maintain professional relationships with other similar local and international organizations with a view toward fostering the growth of professional practice in Ethiopia

Challenges of EEvA Financial constraints due to limited numbers of members and meager contributions ChSA regulations – (10- 90) Has no executive office and employees (all are volunteers)

Way Forward Create strong networking among M&E associations in Africa and Worldwide Create dialogue forums on M&E challenges in Ethiopia and beyond Provide trainings for M&E practitioner (develop curriculum and provide standardized training) Develop standards, operational guidelines and update the existing Mobilize local resources Broaden membership base
