China has one of the world’s most largest population, it is the third largest country in the world just behind Russia and Canada. It history relates back 4000 years ago. China has 14 neighbouring countries, one of its closest neighbours are Russia and India. Most of its eastern boundary overlooks the Pacific Ocean.

China is located in southern Asia along the coastline of the pacific ocean. It has a large variety of landscapes. High mountains in the south-west, deserts and dry plains to the west and north of China, and the sea is in the east of China. Two rivers cross the plain on china. The Yangtze River and the Yellow River

Chinese New year is held in late January or early February. It all Depends on the Lunar calendar. The Lunar calendar always Changes every year because each Chinese New Year it always Starts with a new moon. Chinese New Year is a time for celebrating and feasting with Chinese families. Each year people in China celebrate with a new begging by cleaning And decorating their houses, and buying new clothing. Chinese New year is like Christmas in Australia, every one comes Together and celebrates the holiday. Chinese children also receive Gifts to, they get a red envelope with money in it.

China’s climate varies from region to region. NORTHERN CHINA In the North of China, the winter season falls between December and March and it is Very cold eg: North of the Great Wall, the temperature drops to below freezing point. The Summer in the North of China is around May to August. E.g. The city of Beijing Can reach up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit or more. July and August are the rainy months In the city. In Both the north and south of China, most of the rainfall is in Summer. Springtime and Autumn are the best time of the year to visit the North of China. CENTRAL CHINA Summers are long, hot and humid. High temperatures occur between April and October. Winters are short and cold. Spring and Autumn is the best seasons to visit the Centre of China. SOUTHERN CHINA The Winter is hot and humid temperatures. It starts from April through to September. This is also the rainy season. Typhoons are more likely to happen between July to September. In the South of China, there is a short Winter which occurs from January to March.

The capital city of China is Beijing. The other major cities are Hong Kong, Qingdao, Tianjin, Macao and Shanghai. Beijing - Beijing is the political and cultural part of China. Shanghai – Shanghai is the largest city in China. It is also very Involved in science, technology and commerce. Hong Kong - Hong Kong is China’s well known shopping city. It is Involved in film and TV industries. Macao – Macao is known as China’s city of gaming and racing Industries.

China has a great variety of wildlife. There are more than 100 wild animal species in China. These animals are the Giant Panda, the golden-haired monkey, South China tiger, red-crowned crane, Brown-eared pheasant, red ibis, white-flag dolphin and Chinese alligator. The black and white panda weighs around 135kg and lives on bamboo leaves and Bamboo shoots. It is the world;s most protected wild animal. The red-craned crane stands around 1.2m tall. It is covered with white feathers and Has a red patch on top of its head. This bird is the symbol of longevity in East Asia. The white-flag dolphin is one only two species of freshwater whales in the world. This dolphin and the Chinese alligator can be found along the middle and lower Yangtze River.

China has plenty of plant life species. There are more than 32,000 species of plants and nearly all the Main plants grow in the northern hemisphere where the Temperature is warm and tropical. There are more than 7,000 species of woody plants. The metasequoia, Chinese cypress, Cathay silver fir, golden larch, Taiwan fir, and Fujian cypress. The Metasequoia is a tall and oldest plants in the world. The golden larch is a rare garden tree species which grows in the Mountain areas in the Yangtze River Valley. It has coin-shaped Leaves on short branches. China has a great variety of flowering plants. Flowers like the Peony Which is known as the ‘king of flowers’. It has large blossoms and Beautiful bright coloured petals.
