At the end of the lesson answer the questions: Was the life of American pioneers difficult? Was their life interesting?

Answer the questions: 1. When did people travel across America? 2. Who is a pioneer? 3. Where did they stop? Why? 4. How did they get wood? 5. Tell us about their houses. 6. What did women do? 7. How did the children help them? 8. Were there many toys? 9. What did the children play?

Tell about the American Pioneers Use the words: 1. American pioneers (travelled across America) 2. What did they need? (near the river, chopped down, pulled with ropes, lifted the logs) 3. Their houses (rooms, big pots, picked up wood, fetched water) 4. Children’s toys (skipped, skittles, a cup and a ball game)

What did the children do? Did they help their parents? Did they play a lot? Did they have many toys? Did they buy the toys?

Let’s make a cup and a ball game! You need: Paper Scissors Sticky tape Glue A string Pencils

Fold the paper. Cut.

Open out the big piece. Turn it over. Colour it.

Turn over the paper again. Fold it.

Fold it again and cut.

Open the paper. Stick the string onto it.

Put side 1 on top of side 2.

Stick it.

Make the piece of paper into a ball.

Stick it on the end of the string.

Swing the ball up into the air.

Catch it in the cup.
