Cloverlea Primary School Respect

How do we show respect in our school? Mr Keith McCartney, our much loved site manager, passed away on Friday 3rd October Mr McCartney had been our caretaker for over 25 years!! He loved working here and was an avid Manchester City fan.

How do we show respect in our school? In memory of Mr McCartney, we raised over £800, which we have spent on 2 benches. One in the junior and one in the infant playground. We have also planted a tree, so that we may remember him as it grows.

How do we show respect in our school? We had a special assembly before half term to celebrate his life. We invited his family. We sang songs and talked about our favourite memories of him.

How do we show respect in our school? Here are some quotes from the condolence page of our website: As an after school last minute mum Mr Mc Cartney always had a smile and a chat, never short of a story or a pleasant word. I found the respect he showed to my children was reflected 10 fold in the respect they demonstrated towards him. He had a fabulous way of connecting with the children and they chatted easily with him as he listened and was interested in what they had to say. A sad loss of an exceptional role model and gentleman. (Davies family) What a man with a great heart and he will be missed so much and he will always stay with us in our heart. He always had a smile on his face and welcomed everybody to the school from pupils to members of staff. I don't think I will EVER meet a man like him again so it is a big privilege to have known him. He will be missed. (Tomas) He was one of the kindest people anyone could ever know. Always there to help. Always smiling. Always talking about city ( his team) Sadly missed will never forget you. '~' Thanks for being there. (Billy)

How do we show respect in our school? We have named our inter-house football competition in memory of Mr McCartney. From now on, our pupils will take part in the ‘Keith McCartney Memorial Cup.’
