Presentation transcript:

Needs of Organisms are related to the needs of cells Need energy, building materials, and gases which you breathe in Building materials energy

Needs of Organisms are related to age and health Child- equal amount of energy and building materials Teenager- both but more building materials Adult- both but more energy Senior Citizen- both but more building materials

Food/Plants are a source of energy and building materials for organisms A plant gets energy from the sun and it produces its own building materials. This process is called photosynthesis. A plant is a source of food for some animals. When the animal eats the plant, the energy and building materials are passed on. For those animals that can’t eat plants—carnivores—they eat the plant eaters— herbivores/omnivores—in order to get their energy.

Energy and building materials pass from one living thing to the next. Organisms get energy from the plants which get it from the sun. Organisms get building materials from just plants because plants can produce their own building materials. 100% 95% 80% 60% 42%
