2 Needs of Organisms are related to the needs of cells
Need energy, building materials, and gases which you breathe in -Building materials in an organism or a cell help them grow and become stronger. -Plants breathe in carbon dioxide and breathe out oxygen. Humans breathe in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide. Oxygen helps release energy from cells. -Energy—sugar and starch—comes from food which allows us to be more active. energy Building materials

3 Needs of Organisms are related to age and health
Child- equal amount of energy and building materials Teenager- both but more building materials Adult- both but more energy Senior Citizen- both but more building materials -Children need equal amount because they are constantly running around: kicking a ball, running, climbing, bike riding -They need building materials because they are growing -Teenagers need building materials because they are still growing and maturing but they are not doing as much activity as children. -Adults need energy because you are fully grown. They need to have the energy to do things for their kids like drop them off at an event, cooking, laundry, and food shopping. -Senior Citizens need building materials to strengthen their weak bones and recover from a weakness.

4 Carnivore: Human, African Leopard
Food/Plants are a source of energy and building materials for organisms A plant gets energy from the sun and it produces its own building materials. This process is called photosynthesis. A plant is a source of food for some animals. When the animal eats the plant, the energy and building materials are passed on. For those animals that can’t eat plants—carnivores—they eat the plant eaters—herbivores/omnivores—in order to get their energy. Explain where the energy is going. -Herbivore/omnivore eats baby zebra. Herbivore: Zebra Carnivore: Human, African Leopard Herbivore/omnivore: Varanus exabthematicus

5 Building materials Energy
Energy and building materials pass from one living thing to the next. Organisms get energy from the plants which get it from the sun. Organisms get building materials from just plants because plants can produce their own building materials. Building materials Energy 100% 95% 80% -the sun is what gives energy to the plants. -the plant is called a producers because it produces the energy that the sun has given it. -all of the animals are called consumers because they consume the energy they are given by the plants. -though, plants can produce their own building materials. 60% 42%
