 Skeletal System  Muscular System  Digestive System  Respiratory System  Circulatory System  Nervous System  Urinary System BODY SYSTEMS

 The adult human body has 206 bones, but a baby’s body has about 300 bones. Why is there such a difference? What happens to these bones as you grow up?  Bones rely on the muscles and joints to move. How do they all work together? SKELETAL SYSTEM

Three Different Muscle Types  Skeletal muscle  Cardiac or Heart muscle  Smooth muscle MUSCULAR SYSTEM Muscles provide strength, balance, posture, movement and heat for the body to keep warm. What are the largest muscles in the body?

 The break-down of FOOD!!!  If not for the digestive system… we wouldn’t be able to enjoy all the delicious HEALTHY meals we eat DIGESTIVE SYSTEM

 The system responsible for how we receive oxygen into our bodies!  All mammals have a respiratory system… even dolphins! RESPIRATORY SYSTEM What are some common medical issues associated with the respiratory system?

 Passes nutrients, gases, hormones, and blood cells throughout the body.  Helps fight disease  Controls body temperature/PH  Maintains homeostasis! <--- HUH? What is the main organ in the circulatory system? CIRCULATORY SYSTEM

 If the body had a Main Office, the brain would be it!  Controls all of the actions and functions of our body. NERVOUS SYSTEM What are the two main nervous systems?
