Objective:  The main objective of this slide show is to inform viewers of: Web 2.0 The uses of Web 2.0 Educational Trend of Web 2.0

Video Introduction

What is Web 2.0?  Web 2.0 allows users to make the Internet their own through: Social Networking Interactive Sites User Centered Collaboration

Do you use Web 2.0?  YES!  Do you have any ideas of how you might use Web 2.0? Facebook Class Wiki Wikipedia Blogs Etc.

Social Networking Facebook.com is a great example of how the Web 2.0 technology is used to keep in touch with loved ones. Users have to ability to control what is on their Facebook and they also have the ability to add to others.

Social Networking Group websites, such as this church group site, allows members to add content to the site, see who is online, and chat to other users of the group.

Social Networking Blogger, a site produced by Google, allows for users to create an online journal to share with the world. Many use this technology to stay in contact with family.

Trend in Education  Web 2.0 has created a new trend of working with technology in the classroom.  The trend is found in grade school classrooms, adult upper level education classrooms, and business and military training classrooms.

Education Sites like Wikipedia, a free online encyclopedia, allows students to find endless knowledge on the web. They can also edit the site to include more information about the topics on the site.

Education Web 2.0 allows for sites like Pbworks to be used for colloration efforts. This site allows members of ited 501 to share, edit, and add information to the site.

Education Class Wiki’s are often used to broadcast what is happening in grade school classrooms. The students, teachers, and parents all have access to the site and the ability to add information to the site.

Web 2.0 and The Army  Web 2.0 is not only present in schools, but it is also used be The United States Army.  How the technology being used: Social Networking Training Collaboration

The US Army The Army’s homepage directs users to follow them through the use of social networking sites like Twitter. The Army and it’s commands can be found on site like Facebook, Flicker, and You Tube.

The US Army The Army Training Network provides training to the troops in a method different than most classroom training methods.

Army Training Network  Army Training Network (ATN) is the newest online tool designed for trainers and educators to provide best practices, a database of training solutions and collaborative tools such as a Blog and Battle Command Knowledge System forum.  Information provided by the users, the Soldier  Accessible through a secure Army Knowledge Online (AKO) sign-in.

Conclusion  What is web 2.0?  Do you use Web 2.0 daily?  How has it effected education in the United States?  Will the US Army benefit from the use of Web 2.0?
