All Experimenters MeetingDmitri Denisov Week of July 7 to July 15 Summary  Delivered luminosity and operating efficiency u Delivered: 1.4pb -1 u Recorded: 1.0pb -1 (70%)  Major reasons for efficiency increase u Running in multi-buffer mode in all front-ends s Front-end busy fraction is down to ~3% from ~18% s No major studies/commissioning during last week –D0 Oklahoma Workshop s Still there are items (stability of muon readout, fiber tracker AFE boards stability, etc.) which are holding us below 90% Run II operating efficiency goal  Running at twice higher Level 1 and L2 accept rates recently u ~0.2kHz out of Level 1 trigger u ~140Hz out of Level 2 trigger u ~50Hz to tape  Last week operational issues u Multiple power outages for the Collision Hall and platform s aged UPS - replaced u Lost VME power supply in muon crate s replaced during access today

All Experimenters MeetingDmitri Denisov Week of July 7 to July 14 Operations  Luminosity detector u Stable  Silicon detector u Power supplies are running well u No “rains” from heat exchangers for now u Quite time used for calibrations  Calorimeter u Noisy trigger towers masking  Zero suppression reduced from 2.5  to 1.5   Muon u loss of serial link communication every ~20minutes s limiting Level 3 data transfer rate  Annual D0 Workshop was held at University of Oklahoma last week u very productive u detailed list of issues to be resolved in detectors/trigger/DAQ has been developed s overview of the list

All Experimenters MeetingDmitri Denisov “To do” for the D0 Detectors  All major detectors are in operation u Second order commissioning and improvements  Luminosity detector u Operates stable over many months u Still with Run I electronics (multiple interactions)… u Improvements in calibration constant u On-line numbers for integrated luminosity u Is CDF luminosity really ~6% higher? s D0/CDF task force  Silicon detector u Reliability of the cathedral power supplies and cooling u Understanding of “grassy noise” issue u High voltage leak currents u Monitoring of the radiation dose 4 F Disks 6 Barrels 12 F Disks

All Experimenters MeetingDmitri Denisov “To do” for the Detectors  Fiber tracker and preshowers u Resolve AFE boards “memory loss” problem u Understand pedestal variations to reduce hits occupancy u Monitor light output, VLPS, and AFE responses u Provide calibrated thresholds/signals for CTT trigger u Integrate forward preshower (and FPD)  Calorimeter u Fix noise on Level 1 trigger signals s Low E t triggers are prescaled u Stable pulser calibration  Operation with 1.5  vs 2.5  zero suppression threshold u COMICS based reliable parameters download and verification u ~25 BLS low voltage power supplies have to be upgraded Scintillating or wavelength shifting fiber Optical connector Waveguide VLPC cassette Electronics Cryostat Mirror

All Experimenters MeetingDmitri Denisov “To do” for the Detectors  Inter Cryostat Detector (ICD) u Replace bad PMTs (+few electronics channels) u Updated ICD addressing and test using LED pulser u MIP calibration with data for every individual tile  Solenoid u Long term stability monitoring u Corrections to field map s Geometry, tracks fit based corrections  Muon system u Improve stability of readout (synhronization and other errors) u Level 2 trigger signals issue u Individual thresholds for central A layer counters u T0s and time-to-distance for PDTs (momentum resolution)

All Experimenters MeetingDmitri Denisov Summary  Good progress in the D0 detector capabilities over last year u All detectors are working and down to second order improvements s No show stoppers! u All trigger levels are in operation with rapidly improving capabilities u New DAQ is performing well u Data collection monitoring is advancing u Data collection efficiency is reasonable  We have to finish installation of a few critical systems and commission recently installed equipment  Steady high efficiency operation with in depth data quality monitoring is becoming highest priority for most of the D0 sub-groups
