So what is Recycling?

The Definition of Recycling Recycling is the process of re-using a given product (beyond its intended use), or producing a new product from a recyclable material.

Three Step Process: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Reduce: We need to reduce the amount of the earth's resources we use to make products which may not be essential. Reuse: We need to adopt the habit of reusing products. Don't just throw an item away, instead, why not see if a friend, relative, or charity can make use of the item. Recycle: We need to be able to identify old products which could be made into something new. Is the product recyclable?

How can we tell what a recyclable is? To identify recyclable products, the universal Recycling symbol was introduced. You will see this symbol with a number inside on most products that can be recycled! #

So what exactly can go into the Recycling bin? All Paper and newspapers Cardboard Food packaging such as cereal boxes and sleeve around ready made food. Tissue boxes, packaging boxes, birthday cards Junk mail Plastic bottles All household plastic bottles (remove plastic top) Food tins, drinks cans and aerosols

What cannot go into the recycling bin? No Food No shredded paper No wrapping paper of any kind No broken glass No metals No clothing or shoes No grocery store plastic bags (you can usually recycle plastic bags at your grocery store, typically in a large drop box)
