CAN THE BIBLE EXPLAIN THE ORIGIN OF THE RACES?

1859

Hitler’s book was full of his racist philosophy. 1924

“The German Fuhrer…has consistently sought to make the practice of Germany conform to the theory of evolution.” Evolution and Ethics 1947, Sir Arthur Keith, pg. 230

Nature is always teaching us…that she is governed by the principle of selection: that victory is to the strong and the weak must go to the wall…war is therefore the unalterable law of the whole of life – the prerequisite for the natural selection of the strong and the precedent for the elimination of the weak…all creation is subject to this law; no one can avoid it…since life on earth began struggle has been the very essence of existence… Hitler’s speech to officer cadets, June 22, 1944 Nature is always teaching us…that she is governed by the principle of selection: that victory is to the strong and the weak must go to the wall…war is therefore the unalterable law of the whole of life – the prerequisite for the natural selection of the strong and the precedent for the elimination of the weak…all creation is subject to this law; no one can avoid it…since life on earth began struggle has been the very essence of existence… Hitler’s speech to officer cadets, June 22, 1944

CAN THE BIBLE EXPLAIN THE ORIGIN OF THE RACES?

And so it is written, "The first man Adam became a living being." The last Adam became a life- giving spirit. (1 Corinthians 15:45 NKJV) And Adam called his wife's name Eve, because she was the mother of all living. (Genesis 3:20 NKJV) And so it is written, "The first man Adam became a living being." The last Adam became a life- giving spirit. (1 Corinthians 15:45 NKJV) And Adam called his wife's name Eve, because she was the mother of all living. (Genesis 3:20 NKJV)

God that made the world…hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth… Acts 17:24,26 KJV

Where did Cain get his wife? Was she from a different race? Adam did not beget Cain, Able and Seth only. Genesis 5:4 informs us: “And the days of Adam after he had fathered Seth were 800 years. And he fathered sons and daughters.” Genesis 5:4 informs us: “And the days of Adam after he had fathered Seth were 800 years. And he fathered sons and daughters.”

The historian Josephus wrote: “The number of Adam’s children, as says the old tradition, was thirty- three sons and twenty-three daughters.” Flavius Joseph (Translated by William Whiston) The Complete Works of Josephus, Grand Rapids, MI: Kregel Publications, 1981, pg. 27 The historian Josephus wrote: “The number of Adam’s children, as says the old tradition, was thirty- three sons and twenty-three daughters.” Flavius Joseph (Translated by William Whiston) The Complete Works of Josephus, Grand Rapids, MI: Kregel Publications, 1981, pg. 27

Can you marry your relation? Yes – So long as you marry a human. Yes – So long as you marry a human. Can you legally marry a close blood relative? It’s not legal now – but it used to be. It’s not legal now – but it used to be. “…but where there is no law there is no transgression.” Romans 4:15 “…but where there is no law there is no transgression.” Romans 4:15

Origin of Dinosaurs And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and everything that creepth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.... And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. Genesis 1:25, 31 Biblical Model

The Bible and Evidence 1.Dinosaurs were created after their kind (no intermediates) 2.Dinosaurs and people lived at the same time The Biblical model makes two claims:

Lions (38:39-40) Raven (38:41) Wild mountain goats and deer (39:1-4) Wild donkey (39:5-8) Wild ox (39:9-12) Ostrich (39:13-18) Horse (39:19-25) Hawk and eagle (39:26-30) Behemoth (40:15-24) Leviathan (41:1-34) 36

"Look at the behemoth, which I made along with you and which feeds on grass like an ox. What strength he has in his loins, what power in the muscles of his belly! His tail sways like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are close-knit. His bones are tubes of bronze, his limbs like rods of iron.” (NIV) Job 40:15-18

Can you draw out Leviathan with a fishhook?... Around his teeth there is terror. His strong scales are his pride, Shut up as with a tight seal…They clasp each other and cannot be separated. His sneezes flash forth light, And his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning. Out of his mouth go burning torches;...The sword that reaches him cannot avail; Nor the spear, the dart, or the javelin. He regards iron as straw, Bronze as rotten wood.  And you shall bring into the ark two of every kind, of every living thing of all flesh, to keep them alive with you. They shall be male and female. (Genesis 6:19)  Dinosaurs were on the ark, because the Bible tells us that every kind of air-breathing, land- dwelling animal went aboard.

Dinosaurs and the Flood And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female. Genesis 6:20 Dinosaurs were on the Ark and they came off the Ark

Teaching About the Ark What did the Ark look like?

Teaching About the Ark 450 feet long 75 feet wide 45 feet tall How could Noah put all the BIG dinosaurs on the Ark? He took the baby animals

The Ark  Only about 600 species of dinosaurs  Bible’s “kind” broader than biology’s “species”  Many dinosaurs were relatively small in size  Larger dinosaurs represented by younger and smaller specimens  The ark was very large

Question If a meteor did not cause the dinosaurs to become extinct 65 million years ago and dinosaurs cannot evolve into birds, what happened to them? Did they all die in the Genesis Flood?

David Eakin

Teaching About Dinosaurs  Dinosaurs were created after their kind (there are no intermediates)  Dinosaurs lived at the same time as people Many historical accounts of dragons Pictures on canyon walls Unfossilized dinosaur bones Mummified dinosaurs  Dinosaurs were on the Ark  Many dinosaurs died in the Flood  Dinosaurs are referred to in the Bible (behemoth)  Dinosaurs existed

Of course, melanin is not the only factor that determines skin shade: blood vessels close to the skin can produce a reddish tinge, while extra layers of adipose tissue (fat) in the skin yield a yellowish tinge. Exposure to the sun can cause increased melanin production, thus darkening skin, but only to a certain point. Other pigments also affect skin shade but generally have very little bearing on how light or dark the skin will be. The major provider of skin color is melanin.See all footnotesSee all footnotes Ackerman, Histopathologic Diagnosis of Skin Diseases, Lea & Febiger, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 1978, 44; Lever and Schamberg-Lever, Histopathology of the Skin, 7th Ed., J.B. There are 4 to 6 genes with multiples alleles (versions) of each gene that operate under incomplete dominance, that is, they work together to produce an individual’s particular skin shade. However, simplifying the explanation does not take away from the point being made.See all footnotesSee all footnotes Albinism results from a genetic mutation which prevents the usual production of melanin.See all footnotesSee all footnotes For more information, see answersingenesis.org/go/red-hair.See all footnotesanswersingenesis.org/go/red-hairSee all footnotes As they went, the family groups took with them the knowledge that had been passed to them about the creation and Flood events. This is a praise point but it does not negate the fact that Scripture indicates that it should not have been entered into in the first place. This does not mean that the marriage is not actually valid, nor does it dilute the responsibilities of the marital union—see also 1 Corinthians 7:12–14, where the context is of one spouse becoming a Christian after marriage.See all footnotes1 Corinthians 7:12–14See all footnotes For more on this topic, see The Genesis of a Legacy by Ken Ham and Steve Ham, available from all footnotesThe Genesis of a Legacy all footnotes See Genesis 9:18–27. Canaan, the youngest of Ham’s sons, received Noah’s curse. Why? The descendants of Canaan were some of the wickedest people on earth. For example, the people of Sodom and Gomorrah were judged for their sexual immorality and rebellion. It may be that Ham’s actions toward his father (Genesis 9:22) had sexual connotations, and Noah saw this same sin problem in Canaan and understood that Canaan’s descendants would also act in these sinful ways. (The Bible clearly teaches that the unconfessed sin of one generation is often greater in the next generation.) The curse on Canaan has nothing to do with skin color but rather serves as a warning to fathers to train their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. We need to deal with our own sin problems and train our children to deal with theirs.See all footnotesGenesis 9:18–27Genesis 9:22See all footnotes For example: “We know the circumstances under which the posterity of Cain (and later of Ham) were cursed with what we call Negroid racial characteristics” (Bruce McConkie, Apostle of the Mormon Council of 12, Mormon Doctrine, p. 554, 1958); “The curse which Noah pronounced upon Canaan was the origin of the black race” (The Golden Age, The Watchtower [now called Awake!], p. 702, July 24, 1929).See all footnotesSee all footnotes Examples of such “mixed marriages” and their negative consequences can be seen in Nehemiah 9 and Nehemiah 10, and Numbers 25.
