Role of Intervention Leader Track pupil progress Be a source of data and analysis, and advice Coordinate resources for staff and pupils Have an overview of intervention Monitor the impact Liaise with subject leaders, with pastoral leaders, with Strategy Manager, with school Data Manager etc

Reflecting on the gap task Which data sets are essential, desirable, redundant? Is there additional data that should be collected and made available? Compare! Student Explorer How does it help you identify the needs of your intervention students? How does it help you refine your intervention list? How does it help you create new lists?

Using Excel Open the ‘beginning Excel’ spreadsheet Work through the activities in school pairs

Tracking for a purpose Browse the tracking folder. For each file, how does the data support: The student The class teacher The subject leader SLT

So… Tracking Attainment and Progress Teacher Assessments Tests/Exams Homeworks Projects Controlled Assessments What are the key drivers for each subject? What are the key drivers for each intervention group? What will feed into whole school tracking? How do you maintain the integrity of shared data? What’s the point??

Big picture Collect data for a purpose: to know where pupils have come from, to know where they are now, to know where they should be heading, to know whether they are on track. Analyse data for a purpose: to measure past success, to identify trends, to identify pupils needing support, to plan effective support.
