Do Now: How does a cow see? page 63 B D E A ANSWER: The white light strikes the green grass, which reflects the green light waves. The green light passes through the CORNEA (A) and the PUPIL (C). The IRIS (B) opens and closes to let more light in or to keep too much light out. The green light then passes through the LENS (D) and gets focused onto the RETINA (E). The cones absorb the green light.

Notes: Vision has 5 steps 5. Homer’s brain receives the signal from the optic nerves. It turns the image right side up.  2. The blue doughnut ABSORBS the colors red, orange, yellow, green, indigo, and violet. Homer won’t see these colors!!! 3. The blue doughnut REFLECTS the blue light waves out and into his cornea, pupil, and lens. 1. The lamp shines visible light (7 colors) onto the blue doughnut. 4. Homer’s lens FOCUSES the light onto the retina. The image is upside down. The retina changes the light into electrical signals and sends them to the brain by the optic nerves. 17 R

What parts of the eye does the light pass through to get from outside the eye to the back of the eye? The light passes through the cornea, pupil, lens, and onto the retina. 3. What does the retina do with the light? The retina has rod and cone cells that absorb the light and turn it into an electrical impulse. All information needs to be correct and based on pages 38-64 in the textbook and/or our notes from pages 1L-17R in the notebook. 4. Include 10 vocabulary words from the word wall. Underline them. 5. Organize the information and pictures on the page so it is easy to understand. Use all white space, correct spelling and punctuation. Please copy on page 18R in notebook.
