Group Activity Presentations

Components of a Healthy School Environment  Shelter  Availability of Safe Drinking Water  Food  Availability of Proper Light  Proper Ventilation  Availability of Sanitary facilities  Emergency Medical Care  Protection from Physical and Biological Threats  Protection from Chemical Threats, e.g. air pollution, water pollution, hazardous waste etc

Physical Environment of School and Student’s Learning

Identified Problems  Limited MEAs Roles  Ignorance of old schools due to new school projects  Unequal distribution of resources  Poor planning & designing  Political Interference  No sweeper staff in Primary Schools  No boundary wall around schools

 School’s premises used as store  Unfair teachers and students ratio  Delay in construction activities

Suggestions  Planning should be long term e.g. 100 years  School designing should be proper like proper distance between class rooms & toilets, proper ventilation  District offices should involve media in dissemination of messages related to environment  Provision of UPS, Solar Energy Systems in schools  Plantation in District offices

 Soil test for plantation  Environment slogan on certificates of students  Furniture should be child friendly (injury free)  Provision of janitorial services for cleanliness

Environmental and Social Assessment Major Environmental and Social issues are identified in following areas:  Soil and Lands  Surface Water Quality  Ground Water Quality  Air Quality  Noise and Vibrations  Access, Easement, Health and Worksite Safety

Group Activity Jigsaw Method (Cooperative Learning) “Identify Environmental and Social Issues of your Area/School and give their mitigation measures” Group Work and Presentation

Plan of Action Group Activity & Presentations Develop plans of action for period of one year indicating possible follow up actions.
